I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Because of the dictatorship there, my parents immigrated to Calgary, Canada. After graduating from high school. I moved back to Buenos Aires. I spent the 90s there, which were my 20s. I was an actress. Mostly in theater and some independent short films. Then, in 2002, I turned 30. There was a major political and economic crisis in Argentina, so I decided to move to Toronto, Canada. I started screenwriting. I wrote and directed my first and only short film. I produced a feature documentary film shot in Juarez, Mexico, called A night in Juarez.
I moved back to Calgary in 2008, when I decided to be closer to my family. I love to travel and I love the beach and island life. My dream is to live near the sea some day soon.
I got my amazing dog Rio back in 2009. She travels with me and loves the beach and laying in the sun. She is my little companion. Love her more than words can say.
I’ve been writing since I was a little girl. I used to say I wanted to be a writer when I was 7 years old. I have written many short stories, a few scripts, and I am working on my first children’s book, Lola and the Yellow Hat, which I started writing while Malena Lola was hospitalized.
I love to write. I write everyday so I decided to write a blog about my life as Malena Lola’s mom. About the journey of experiencing an extremely premature birth and having a micro preemie baby girl. About life in the NICU. About life with a trach baby girl. About becoming an empowered parent when facing doctors and the hospital system. About how to keep being positive and grateful no matter what. About how to make sure baby girl has a full and fun childhood despite the challenges of a tracheostomy.
Malena Lola and I have had a pretty amazing journey so far. I am by no means a medical expert or offer any type of medical advice, but I do hope our experience brings some inspiration or support, or at least some laughs!
If you’re new, welcome. If you’ve been here from the beginning, thank you. If you have any questions, requests or simply want to say hello, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com. I’m also on Facebook at page Malena Lola and Twitter at @malenalola.
